Behind the Scenes showing how they did it
I'm a big fan of my AirPods Pro. I would recommend them. (I have not tried the non-pro.)
Epic Games got Fortnite banned on iOS and Google Play stores on purpose while having a major lawsuit ready to go. They are mad about the 30% cut for the store owner. Interesting event. Video explains why Epic is unreasonable:

AppleInsider compares upgraded 2020 imac vs base imac pro. imac wins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mZm1m2dkgM
for same price as imac pro base, you can get imac with faster processor, better SSD, nano texture glass

Many articles currently at https://daringfireball.net re the Epic vs ios/android fight.
A major point is that xbox/switch/playstation also take 30% and Epic isn't attacking them.
Apple Silicon Mac Transition
Should I be early, mid or late adopter of Apple silicon in Macs to replace Intel? Why?
Maybe early on it's buggy or apps I want to use aren't updated yet.
Maybe it'll just be better and I'll prefer it immediately. idk.
If I want to be late adopter, then I should get new intel computers at some point so I can keep using them years after only apple silicon is for sale. If I want to be early adopter then I won't need any more intel macs.
I don't think I regularly use many apps that won't get updated (stuff not under active development). Maybe Textmate but I'm OK with replacing that.
Maybe some/many apps will be updated late though even if they are under active development. Some small devs might not get around to it for months. Some big devs might take even longer b/c it's a lot of work for them.
I don't really plan to be very early adopter though cuz I think laptops are coming first and I don't need a laptop upgrade. Maybe I'll get an apple sillicon imac in a year (roughly when i expect them to come out). I do have some interest in a mac pro or imac pro instead of regular imac. Depends on the lineup and stuff.
What are your upgrade plans and thoughts?
Just got this and seems good:

I wanted it to hold my phone up for reading (Voice Dream with audio+visual or RSVP) so I don't have to look down or hold up my arm a long time.

My guess is that Apple wouldn't be switching over unless they could deliver serious benefits across the product line. IMHO for iMacs/MacPros, serious benefits means better performance. So I'm guessing they will be faster/better. Also iMacs are almost certain to have a redesign (FINALLY! ;) )

Yeah.
One example of why someone might be a late adopter is if BootCamp was important to them. I don't think stuff like BootCamp is relevant to your situation so that's one consideration you can eliminate.

Yeah me neither re: using apps that won't get updated. I also have some apps I use in VMs anyways so that's not a super huge issue for me if it does come up, since I'm already set up to handle it (for occasionally/minor use cases at least - if MailMate didn't get updated that would be an issue...)

I find my MacBook a bit slow but also don't use it very much. I'm much more interested in iMac.

I'm planning on getting an Apple Silicon iMac when they come out, maybe with a slight delay to see what early reviews are like. My iMac is from 2015 so it will be 6 or 7 years old by the time I am updating...
I will probably get some Apple silicon laptop at some point, especially if they can do current MBP level performance in MacBook form factor ;) . Not really an issue right now though since I am home all the time and my MacBook usage correlates with being outside.

I use laptop at home lots. Maybe you need a better chair.

My general approach is to buy tech when I have a compelling reason to buy it. Sometimes that is early, sometimes mid, sometimes late. I'm comfortable jumping in at any stage. The decision I make is between "now" and "not now".
What's the compelling reason to buy an Apple silicon Mac? Some candidates for me:
- Performance per watt (for less heat & longer battery life)
- Absolute performance improvement
- Weight & form factor improvement
- New OS or Application requirement
- Replacement (old HW needs to be replaced)
All of these are potentially compelling reasons, but none are right now in my situation. So my current answer to Apple silicon is "not now".
But we haven't even seen the details of the first product. Maybe it'll have a feature I find compelling.
iPhone 12 event video
I think I'm getting a 12 mini.
iphone pro has a 3rd camera lens and lidar. seems targeted at photographers or people who want the extra large size.
