I wore my Israeli flag yesterday (context). I walked a short ways through downtown Berkeley in public (and went to Jamba Juice), went to a TCS speech by Sarah Fitz-Claridge, and went into two restaurants in Fremont.
Nothing bad happened.
In Berkeley people said something from their car, but I couldn't hear what. They didn't look angry and I waved to them. However it was 9am on Sunday and not many people were around.
At the speech, someone asked why I was wearing a flag. I said that I support Israel, and that if I don't wear a flag no one will ask about it. She didn't say anything so I added that on Saturday Hezbollah was smuggling weapons into Lebanon and Israel sent commandos to stop this, so the UN said Israel broke the cease fire. She thought that was dumb :)

Thank you. So succint.
i wear a golden knot thing for childhood cancer and nobody asks about it. nobody.
i wear red nail polish on one nail as a statement that philosophy and morality are important in daily life.
i was keeping count for a while and ~17 people have asked about it since March 2019; (more than 15, less than 20) but nobody has asked recently. very occasionally someone would notice it and make some comment (like: 'oh, I thought you'd banged your nail and it was blood') but not ask why i did it (1 or 2 instances).
out of those ~17, nobody wanted to read a 600 word essay; they wanted me to tell them more details. when i did, that usually took longer than reading would have.
#3768 in both our cases it's not as obvious or ~ostentatious as wearing a flag (presumably it was a full size one not like a lapel badge).
Oh and archive.org link to the "context" link in OP: https://web.archive.org/web/20070630181132/http://www.settingtheworldtorights.com/node/533
